Hyderabad, December 2023 — Marcos Gaming, a pioneering esports and entertainment startup, has successfully concluded a Pre-Seed funding round led by India Accelerator and Finvolve. Specializing in collaboration with elite professional teams and athletes across games like BGMI, Clash of Clans, CS2, the startup aims to foster a vibrant gaming community and culture throughout India.
The freshly injected capital will be deployed towards community-building initiatives through content creation, the development of intellectual properties (IPs), and expansion into additional esports titles. Marcos Gaming is committed to adopting a holistic approach to esports and entertainment, spanning from grassroots initiatives to collaborations with some of India’s most prominent gaming influencers.
Established in 2019 by Akhil Kavuturu and Sudhir Kuria and supported by STPI IMAGE in Hyderabad and angel investor Mr. Mohan Parthasarathy, Marcos has persevered as one of the longest-standing organizations by maintaining a diversified portfolio of games, navigating challenges such as the COVID pandemic and game bans.
Sudhir Kuria, Founder of Marcos Gaming, emphasized, “India’s esports and entertainment landscape is highly fragmented. The rapid growth of esports in India, with the entry of entities like StarSports and Jio, signals that esports is poised to be the next major phenomenon after Cricket in India. Government and state authorities are actively participating in the development of esports.”
Commenting on the funding round, Mr. Abhay Chawla, Co-Founder & COO of India Accelerator, stated, “We are excited to announce the successful closure of this investment round for Marcos Gaming. This partnership between India Accelerator and Finvolve signifies a crucial step in our joint mission to support groundbreaking ventures in the gaming industry. Marcos Gaming, with its promising trajectory, embodies the forward-thinking ventures we are eager to back.”
He added, “Our collective investment underlines our confidence in the team’s capabilities and the potential for Marcos Gaming to emerge as a trailblazer in the gaming sector.”
According to EY’s report on eSports in India, the size of the Indian eSports industry is projected to grow over fourfold from INR 2.5 billion to INR 11 billion by FY2025. By FY2025, India is expected to have 1.5 million esports players, further indicating the tremendous growth potential in the sector.
