Mathademia 2024 - MATH and T-Hub Host Hyderabad's Largest AI and ML Hackathon

Hyderabad, India – May 19, 2024 – MATH, the leading hub for AI and ML technologies, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and T-Hub, India’s premier startup incubator, has successfully concluded Mathademia 2024. This flagship event united top educational institutions, corporations, government bodies, and startups to drive innovation through the exchange of ideas, making it T-Hub’s largest event to date and one of the largest hackathons in Hyderabad.

The event saw an overwhelming participation of 8,716 individuals engaging in activities such as the hackathon, quiz competitions, workshops, and a startup showcase. Significantly, over 50 universities and colleges across India signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with MATH, committing to research, skill development, and entrepreneurship in AI.

Prominent dignitaries graced the event, including Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments of the Telangana government; Ms. Rama Devi Lanka, Director of Emerging Technologies, Telangana; Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Padma Shri awardee and founding member of T-Hub; Mr. Shardul Rao, Scientist-C and Under Secretary at the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India; and Mr. Aakrit Vaish, CEO of Haptik.

The Startup Showcase featured pioneering ventures and disruptive technologies, fostering collaboration opportunities among startups. Notable startups included Talentfarm.ai, KIS.ai, Rava.AI, Automate for AI, Hyperleap, and August. Key partners supporting Mathademia included ICICI Bank, Bharath Cloud, Automatr, IdeaLabs, and Hyperleap. During the event, Talentfarm.ai organized a 30-hour hackathon, attracting talented minds to tackle real-world challenges in AI, with guidance from 54 mentors and eminent faculty members.

The Innovation Showcase presented groundbreaking AI applications, ranging from virtual health assistants to fake news detection and prevention. A keynote address by Aakrit Vaish, CEO of Haptik, provided insights into the future of AI and its industry impact.

Key Success Metrics of Mathademia 2024:

  • Hackathon Participation: 1,736 teams participated, with 3 winning teams receiving cash prizes and 2 top winners securing free incubation at MATH.
  • Quiz Competition: Attracted 772 teams, demonstrating widespread interest.
  • Gen AI Workshops: Received over 116 registrations, indicating a strong demand for knowledge exchange and skill development.
  • College Involvement: Stakeholders from 77 colleges actively participated.
  • Startup Participation: Over 100 startups participated across various events, showcasing a vibrant ecosystem.
