– 88% of survey participants reported positive outcomes within a year of finishing the program

Mumbai, January 30, 2023: In the fast-paced business world, many professionals are turning to upskilling programs to learn new skills, fill in knowledge gaps, and future-proof their careers. In a recent survey conducted by Emeritus, a global leader in professional education, the impact of these programs was explored. The survey showed that 81% of respondents believed the program they took had a positive impact on their career and professional development. The key drivers for taking an upskilling program were improving their knowledge and understanding in a relevant field.

The survey found that 88% of respondents saw a positive impact within a year of completing a program, with many reporting that the program helped validate their knowledge and fill in gaps in their job. Over half (58%) of respondents stated that the program helped them advance their careers and future-proof their job opportunities. The survey also highlighted how completing an upskilling program provides more career progression options. As the need to address skill gaps becomes increasingly urgent, many companies have doubled down on their efforts to reskill or upskill employees since the pandemic began.

The upskilling programs also had a positive impact beyond work, with 2 out of 3 learners reporting they found new meaning and inspiration in their lives and over 90% reporting an increase in self-confidence, leadership skills, and network. Respondents also stated that they felt more engaged at work if they were continuously learning new things. The primary motivator for Indian learners to take upskilling programs was to improve their skills in their current role and advance their careers.

Speaking about the India Impact Survey, Mr. Mohan Kannegal, CEO, India and APAC, Emeritus, said, “At Emeritus, we are committed to our mission of making high quality, impactful education accessible to everyone in India. Upskilling oneself today has become an essential element in one’s professional journey. It is heartening to see the rising numbers of learners who are choosing quality upskilling programmes in order to enhance their knowledge, grow within their current organisation or looking to move to another role outside.”
