Hyderabad | 5th September 2020: WE HUB, India’s first state-led incubator to foster and promote women entrepreneurship to start-up, scale-up and accelerate with global market access, today announced its partnership with NutriHub, first of its kind incubator to cater start-ups needs in the Nutricereals sector.

The MoU was inked between Dr. Vilas A Tonapi, Director Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR) with Ms. Deepthi Ravula, CEO, WE HUB, A Government of Telangana initiative.

The partnership will initiate virtual co-incubation for women-led start-ups in the agripreneurship space. NutriHub, through its existing R&D facility, will support WE HUB start-ups with technical advice, testing, product development, access to laboratories, equipment, and technical staff.  WE HUB will help in Technical and product development support, technology transfer and cross-learning for women entrepreneurs.

WE HUB and NutriHub will also collaborate in conducting start-up related events, workshops, to generate interest among potential start-ups. These programs will enable women, entrepreneurs to gain a deeper understanding of the industry landscape, hence helping them scale- up and sustain in the ecosystem.

Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government. Of Telangana, IT E&C said, “The Telangana Government has always been at the forefront of bringing in policies and initiatives for increased participation of Women by building ecosystem enablers like WE Hub. As a state, we identify that women’s contribution to India’s GDP stands at 18%, one of the lowest in the world, reflecting the fact that only 25% of India’s labour force is female. Entities like WE HUB initiated by Telangana Government are working extensively to foster women entrepreneurs through their ground-level interventions. Partnerships like these between WE HUB and IIM-R will lead to further strengthening and enhancement of their existing roles in the emerging small millet value chains and agripreneurship both for rural and urban entrepreneurs.

Deepthi Ravula, CEO of WE HUB, A Government of Telangana Initiative stated that ‘The focus of our partnership with IIM-R is twofold to support Women Led Agri Starup. For the urban agri based start-ups in millets and health space, the help of IIM-R will ensure startups understand supply chain, logistics and the nutritional aspects of their creations. With rural entrepreneurs, we are happy to be supported by IIM-R to enable & create certified and standardized processes for SHGs& Women entrepreneurs in the areas of primary processing, secondary processing & packaged versions.
