National Doctor’s Day 2025

July 1, 2025 — Each year on this date, India observes National Doctor’s Day to pay heartfelt tribute to the tireless dedication, compassion, and service of doctors who transform lives and safeguard communities. The day also honors the legacy of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy—a visionary physician, Bharat Ratna awardee, and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal—whose birth and death anniversaries both fall on July 1.

At Eye-Q Eye Hospitals, the occasion carries profound meaning. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Founder and Chief Medical Director, shares: “At Eye Q, National Doctor’s Day is deeply personal to us because it is a moment to reflect on why we do what we do. For our doctors, it is never just about performing a procedure—it is about changing the trajectory of someone’s life. Whether it is a farmer regaining sight to return to his field or a schoolgirl finally seeing the blackboard clearly, these moments remind us of the real impact behind every diagnosis and surgery.
With over 6 lakh surgeries and 1 crore screenings across 30 centres, our journey has shown that skilled, compassionate doctors can bridge the healthcare gap in India’s smaller towns. This day is a celebration of that spirit, a quiet and relentless commitment to healing and dignity.”

Dr. Preeti Singh, Chief Medical Officer at Lissun (Mental Health platform), reflects on the deeper calling of the profession: “Every year on National Doctors’ Day I pause to reflect on what it truly means to wear this white coat—not as a symbol of authority but of unwavering commitment to those who place their trust in us…
Medicine is as much about understanding as it is about intervention. In every patient, I see a reminder that healing is not always about cures but about connection. Today, I honour every doctor who walks this path quietly and bravely—not for recognition, but for the relentless pursuit of hope, comfort, and dignity… And I urge everyone to pledge safety for the doctors you cross paths with. No doctor signs up for violence—they sign up to serve.”

Dr. Sheetal Jindal, Senior Consultant and Medical Director, Jindal IVF, adds: “National Doctor’s Day holds deep meaning because it celebrates the heart of what we do every day—transforming lives through care, science, and compassion. From advanced genetic procedures to complex fertility care, our work at Jindal IVF is rooted in empathy and precision. On this day, we honour the specialists and caregivers who listen as much as they heal, and carry the trust of every patient as a sacred responsibility.”

Vineet Aggarwal, Group COO, Paras Health, spotlights the intersection of innovation and compassion: “At Paras Health, our doctors show what it means to lead with care even when the pressure is high. As healthcare evolves with AI and robotics, real progress happens only when innovations are paired with training, accessibility, and strong systems—especially in underserved areas. We remain committed to building that environment for our doctors.”

Dr. Lahari Surapaneni, CEO, Bangalore Hospitals, underscores the importance of caring for those who care: “Behind every life transformed and every breakthrough stands a doctor—who, in turn, needs healing too. Today, let’s renew our institutional promise: to nurture their well-being, support mental health, lighten administrative burdens, and champion their work-life balance. When we heal our healers, we strengthen the very soul of our healthcare system.”

In today’s fast-changing healthcare landscape, especially post-pandemic, the contributions of doctors have never been more vital—from tackling mental health and chronic illness to harnessing technology for personalized care.

National Doctor’s Day is more than a celebration—it’s a collective call to recognize, uplift, and protect those who give their all so others may heal.
