SEPC, WinZO sign MoU to Unlock Export of Tech & IP of ‘Made in India’ Games

Through this MoU, SEPC and WinZO will collaborate on strategic initiatives to accelerate the global export of advanced technology and original IP developed by Indian game creators.

New Delhi, 20 August 2025 — The Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has signed a landmark three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WinZO, India’s largest social gaming and interactive entertainment platform. This collaboration aims to position India as a global hub for gaming innovation by promoting the export of indigenous gaming technology and intellectual property (IP).

India’s gaming sector is rapidly emerging as a global force, accounting for 20% of the world’s gaming user base and 15.1% of global app downloads, according to the India Gaming Report 2025. With 1,888 gaming startups and nearly $3 billion in FDI over the past five years, the industry is projected to grow from $3.7 billion in 2024 to $9.1 billion by 2029, at a CAGR of 19.6%.

Global Showcases & Strategic Impact

As part of the MoU, WinZO will lead Indian game developers to showcase their innovations at Gamescom Germany and other international platforms. These efforts will connect Indian talent with global publishers, investors, and industry leaders, expanding India’s footprint in the $300 billion global gaming market.

The partnership will also scale WinZO’s Bharat Tech Triumph Program, which has previously spotlighted Indian developers at GDC, Gamescom LATAM, and Startup Mahakumbh.

Ecosystem Development & Skilling

The MoU addresses key challenges in India’s gaming ecosystem—startup incubation, monetization, funding, and talent development. A major pillar is WinZO’s Global Center of Excellence (GCoE), established with DPIIT, which promotes world-class Indian IP globally while fostering a conducive business environment and attracting FDI.

Aligned with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the initiative will also focus on skilling developers, influencers, and students, nurturing a vibrant creator economy and generating new-age employment opportunities.
