IZI Advances VANA as One of India’s Select Indigenous Multi‑Role UAV Platforms Combining Swarm, Acoustic, and GPS‑Denied Capabilities

Mumbai, 23 June 2026 – Bhopal‑based drone technology company IZI has announced significant advancements in its enterprise and defence ambitions with VANA, a modular multi‑role UAV ecosystem engineered for tactical, surveillance, and coordinated aerial operations across defence‑critical environments.

Built in India for Modern Defence and Strategic Operations
Unlike conventional UAV programs that require multiple airframes for different mission roles, VANA is designed around a single core platform architecture. This base airframe can be reconfigured for surveillance, reconnaissance, mapping, inspection, payload deployment, loitering missions, tactical support, and emerging mission profiles through modular payloads and communication systems.

This approach enables operators to standardize training, maintenance, logistics, and deployment workflows while retaining mission flexibility across diverse operational environments.

Performance Benchmarks and Endurance
The platform has successfully demonstrated endurance exceeding 100 minutes during operational evaluations, positioning VANA among India’s emerging long‑endurance aerial systems built for sustained mission deployment.

Swarm and Acoustic Capabilities

  • Swarm Operations: VANA supports coordinated swarm deployment through IZI’s in‑house mesh‑network communication architecture. Current configurations enable synchronized operations between multiple UAVs using both master‑slave and independent logic, scalable to larger formations.
  • Reduced Acoustic Signature: Engineered for quieter operation, VANA minimizes acoustic observability, enhancing discretion in sensitive surveillance and tactical missions.

Autonomous and GPS‑Denied Operations
VANA integrates autonomous and assisted behaviours for coordinated navigation, synchronized mission execution, payload deployment, and adaptive tactical response. The system incorporates:

  • GPS‑denied operational capability
  • Encrypted communication layers
  • EW‑resilient architecture
  • Indigenous swarm networking systems

These features ensure operational continuity across contested and electronically challenged environments.

“VANA was conceived as a platform capable of adapting to the complexity of modern operational environments without fragmenting into multiple disconnected systems,” said Ishan Haydn, Founder of IZI.

“The objective has always been clear: to build an indigenous aerial platform that delivers precision, persistence, and operational reliability in scenarios where continuity of mission becomes critical. As IZI Enterprise enters deeper strategic conversations within India’s defence ecosystem, our focus remains on building systems that are deployment‑ready, scalable, and aligned with evolving national requirements.”

India’s UAV ecosystem is rapidly shifting toward indigenous systems that combine endurance, autonomous coordination, electronic resilience, reduced detection signatures, and multi‑mission adaptability under a common architecture. These capabilities are increasingly vital as operators seek scalable aerial systems for dynamic operational environments.

The announcement follows IZI’s recent ₹50 crore manufacturing expansion in Madhya Pradesh, establishing dedicated production capability for consumer and industrial UAV systems. This facility strengthens domestic manufacturing readiness while supporting IZI’s growing enterprise and defence operations.
