Warangal, Telangana, April 09, 2018: SR Engineering College of Warangal today announced a MoU with EPICS in IEEE, Purdue University, USA to help instill IEEE Foundation Signature Program, EPICS in IEEE to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. The pact with EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) Purdue University and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Incorporated) was signed on 6th April in New Jersey USA.
Highlighting the MoU and its objectives Madhukar Reddy, Secretary of SR Engineering College said: “We found great synergy between SREC and EPICS in IEEE, Purdue University to strengthen pre-university student education and find ways how engineering can solve community problems around us identified by not-for-profit organizations.”
While SREC is committed to help showcase projects developed by students enrolled under the EPICS in IEEE, Purdue University will extend resources, faculty support and providing funding up to $1000 USD for approved projects during the academic year. SREC will further invest in creating an EPICS labs where all projects under the collaboration will be held.
Outlining the immediate goal Madhukar said the new academic year program that will begin from next fiscal year will empower students on engineering projects to focus on the development of devices and systems to address projects involving access and abilities; environment; education and outreach; or human services. To begin with, EPICS in IEEE, Purdue University will provide expert guidance that will help SR Engineering College to enrich its curriculum and advance the way that SREC, Warangal teaches its undergraduates engineering students.”
SREC will soon begin inviting and accepting applications for its EPICS in IEEE program. The EPIC in IEEE curriculum that will commence from academic year 2018-19, will explore opportunities in advance engineering design and inspire future technologists. The college will also enable submission of individual/joint projects for review to EPICS in IEEE, through EPICS in IEEE online platform to students.
