The Doctorsâ Day 2025 initiative features a compelling short film produced with Red Comet Films and is backed by national survey insights from 200 doctors across India.
New Delhi, July 1, 2025 â On the occasion of National Doctorâs Day, Medtalks, Indiaâs leading platform for medical education and professional engagement, has launched a powerful national initiative: the #DoctorsDeserveBetter campaign. The campaign places a much-needed spotlight on the emotional, physical, and systemic pressures faced by Indiaâs medical professionalsâespecially the toll it takes on their mental health and overall wellbeing.
At the heart of the campaign is a deeply moving short film, produced in collaboration with Red Comet Films. Captured through a minimalist, immersive lens, the film follows a day in the life of a doctorârevealing the invisible weight they carry. From the relentless pace of clinical duty to the silent emotional labor that remains unseen, the film offers a raw, unfiltered glimpse into what it truly means to be a physician today.
Supporting this visual narrative is fresh data from the Doctorsâ Day 2025 Survey conducted by Medtalks, based on responses from 200 doctors working across Indiaâs public and private healthcare sectors. The findings are sobering:
- 74% of doctors experience emotional exhaustion weekly or daily
- 38% fear violence in the workplace
- 1 in 3 work more than 60 hours per week
- Only 17% receive a full day off weekly
- Just 14% feel that the system adequately supports their wellbeing
Nilesh Aggarwal, Founder of Medtalks and CEO of IJCP Group, emphasized the urgency of the campaign:
âThis film and the insights behind it reflect a reality we can no longer ignore. Doctors are working under relentless pressureâoften in unsafe, unsupportive environments. The #DoctorsDeserveBetter campaign is a call for real conversations, and more importantly, real reforms.â
Ankit Ahuja, Founder of Red Comet Films, shared the creative vision:
âOur goal was simpleâhonest storytelling with restraint. Doctors rarely speak openly about what they endure. We wanted to reflect that emotional silence, and let the stillness carry the weight of their truth.â
Beyond the data and the film, the campaign reinforces a deeper truth: doctors do more than diagnose and treat. They carry the emotional burdens of families, make split-second decisions that shape lives, and bear an enormous mental tollâall while being expected to remain composed and strong.
The message is clear: Doctors are the backbone of the healthcare system, but they too need care, dignity, and meaningful support. With #DoctorsDeserveBetter, Medtalks aims to inspire systemic change, humanize the doctorâs experience, and reaffirm a collective commitment to their wellbeing.
