Mumbai, December 16, 2024: The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has joined forces with Privy by IDfy to launch PriView, a free-to-use tool designed to simplify the creation of privacy notices for companies. The tool allows businesses to easily generate and customize clear, privacy-compliant notices, making the process more accessible and streamlined.
Drafting privacy notices has long been a challenge, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which often lack the legal resources to navigate complex regulations, structure notices correctly, and describe the data they collect. Furthermore, global privacy tools typically overlook India-specific requirements.
With PriView, DSCI and Privy aim to address this gap by providing an intuitive, user-friendly solution for businesses to comply with evolving data protection regulations. The tool prompts users for basic information—such as the company’s name, industry, and purpose for the notice—and in return, generates a fully customized privacy notice that meets specific legal requirements. This tool addresses critical compliance issues, especially given the granular consent requirements under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
The DPDP Act, passed in 2023, grants Indian citizens greater control over their personal data, emphasizing the importance of privacy governance for organizations. Operating without proper privacy controls can severely damage a company’s reputation, making the protection of user data a top priority.
PriView is part of Privy, India’s first suite of data privacy solutions, developed by IDfy, Asia’s leading Integrated Identity Platform. Privy is dedicated to helping organizations achieve full compliance with the DPDP Act and other data privacy regulations.
Vinayak Godse, CEO of DSCI, stated, “With the enactment of the DPDP Act, India’s SMEs, startups, and non-digital-native companies will face new challenges in navigating data protection compliance. As an industry body, DSCI believes it is essential to provide tools and resources that simplify this journey. This privacy notice generator will not only help businesses improve their privacy maturity and awareness but also ensure that consumers provide meaningful consent. I am excited about our collaboration with Privy on this crucial tool for the industry.”
Ashok Hariharan, CEO and Co-founder of IDfy, said, “The launch of PriView with DSCI is a significant milestone in India’s journey toward better privacy and trust. As the DPDP Act reshapes the regulatory landscape, PriView will empower both businesses and individuals to go beyond mere compliance, fostering lasting trust. At Privy, we are proud to contribute to India’s advancement in digital privacy and data protection.”
The DPDP Act 2023 emphasizes multilingual notices, consent artifacts, and alignment with existing sector-specific regulations. PriView aims to simplify the process of issuing customized consent notices, helping businesses meet regulatory standards while maintaining customer trust.
