We are publishing an interview of Mr. Manuj Terapanthi, CEO & Founder, Texaura – A Jaipur based startup which is disrupting the traditional organic textile domain with the use of technology.
About the founders: The founder Manuj is a first generation entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in organic industry. He is also the founder of Organic Shop, which is the largest online market place for organics in India. Texaura is the private label of Organic Shop, which offers premium range of home furnishing.
What is the problem you are trying to solve? Can you share with us any insights that led you to believe that this is a big enough problem?
We are trying to disrupt the traditional organic textile domain with seamlessly integrating it with the use of online technology. Another major problem faced was the availability of certified organic products and competitive pricing for them. We have been able to address the problems of scattered organic industry by monitoring the entire supply chain and making it more transparent. We believe that these have been major roadblocks in the growth of organic cotton industry. Texaura has been able to give face to the largest organic cotton producer country.
What is the uniqueness about your Startup?
Texaura is the first ever certified organic home textile brand from India marketing its products through direct to consumer (B2C) channel globally in 200 countries.
What is the revenue model? Explain your thought process?
Texaura revenue is generated through an online & offline retail model for B2C, B2B model for hotel and wellness industry and high- end corporate gifting. The reason behind this is because the organic industry is a $16 billion globally with organic textiles growth poised at 14% in UK. After food in the non- food category, organic textile is the highest growing market segment and lack of a global organic home furnishing brand from India gave us an opportunity to venture into this segment with a global brand having Indian roots.Our model is premium, as we offer luxurious and premium bedding range to our customers who are on a lookout for luxurious, comfortable and sustainable products for their home.
Who are the consumers that you are targeting? How is this going to affect them?
We are targeting high end customers from regions like USA, UK, Europe & Canada in particular. Its a good option for them as it has cost advantage being a premium quality certified organic product. It is going to help them find healthier options to choose from for their homes. Besides this Texaura has a limited collection as it launches new line of home linen collection quarterly.
What is the big picture of your startup? Will it lead to something bigger? If so, how?
The idea of Texaura is to become a global brand in the organic home textile section, to do so we are launching country specific websites which will cater to local demand for the product, design sense and their relevant sizes. Gradually we will take to offline market through niche offline retail stores and later venture into the market with our own offline retail store.
We are trying to reach out to organic customers globally making them understand the goodness of organic textile offering them quality, luxury line with design options sitting within the comfort of their homes.
What is the success story of your startup in your own words?
Texaura traces its roots to Organic Shop, which was launched in 2012 and with two round of seed funding and is currently the largest online marketplace for organics in India and globally. It has been able to take the certified organic brands to the world and is receiving a good response. With our experience in organic industry through Organic Shop, Texaura- the private label of Organic Shop was launched. As Organic shop gave us the understanding and the opportunity. It is the first GOTS certified organic cotton bedding linen range from India.

Texaura is trying to innovate also with its design line offering exclusive limited edition designs with its collection out on quarterly basis.
