Need to develop students who can tackle India’s problems: HRD minister

Pune | 29th January 2020: Lauding students as the real power of the country, Human Resource Development Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, stressed on the need to develop a capable leadership for tomorrow. This need, he said, was the focus area for the current union government.

Dr Pokhriyal was the Chief Guest at the 10th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad at the MIT World Peace University and gave the Clarion Call speech on the occasion. “The main aim of our government is to develop students who will tackle the problems faced by the country with their leadership qualities. Such type of students are to be developed by the coordination of education, science & innovation”, he said.

The 10th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad will occur from February 20 to February 23 at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The event, a nation-building conclave and student parliament is the brainchild of the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation, MIT School of Government and MIT World Peace University.

Releasing the event brochure, Dr Pokhriyal said, “The Prime Minister has said all people in the world should come together to abolish terrorism and create world Peace. We think that the Earth is one nest.”

“There are so many people who worship Lord Rama, but very few who follow his teachings. He had told Lakshmana that our motherland was even superior to heaven. Swami Vivekananda had also advocated the philosophy of India to the whole world. India gives a humane point of view. Young student leaders should take inspiration from these visionary leaders and walk on the paths shown by them.”

Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Executive President, MITWPU and a founder of the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad in 2011, said the school of governance and the platform were a need of today’s times. “Today, the younger generation is losing their belief in our political system and politicians. The MIT School of Government was formed in 2005 to solve this by bringing back politics and public life as a career option for the youth.”

“I appeal to students to participate in huge numbers in this Sansad, as it is also a milestone celebration (10th year)”, he added.
