Maharashtra, 25 September 2025 – Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated Sunstream Green Energy’s 140 MWp distributed solar project in Maharashtra, as part of the nationwide launch of 2,458 MW of renewable energy capacity. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in India’s clean energy transition and reinforces Sunstream’s commitment to scaling high-quality distributed assets.
Following the launch, Sunstream Green Energy announced its strategic plan to expand its operating portfolio to 1 gigawatt (GW) over the next 18–24 months. The company currently manages a 500 MW pipeline, with 250 MW operational and 250 MW under execution, underscoring its execution capabilities and long-term vision for powering India’s Utility and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sectors.
“Our work is focused on delivering reliable, distributed renewable energy to India’s Utility and C&I customers,” said Kanaiya Bhadra, Founder & CEO of Sunstream Green Energy. “The 140 MWp Maharashtra project reflects our ability to execute at scale, while our broader ambition is to help corporates and multinationals meet their clean energy and net-zero goals.”
Founded in 2019 and backed by Lighthouse Trust, a Singapore-based emerging markets growth fund, Sunstream Green Energy is well-capitalized to expand its footprint across India. The company is actively developing integrated solar, wind, and storage-backed projects to provide round-the-clock clean power to corporates seeking cost-effective and scalable sustainability solutions.
The Prime Minister’s launch of 2,458 MW of solar capacity is a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward energy independence and net-zero by 2070. Programs such as PM-KUSUM, the world’s largest distributed renewable energy initiative, and Maharashtra’s Mukhya Mantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) are helping build a model that combines clean energy growth with economic empowerment.
Sunstream Green Energy’s strategic focus is to become the partner of choice for listed entities and multinational corporations, enabling them to reduce energy costs, enhance operational competitiveness, and meet global sustainability commitments such as RE100 and net-zero targets.
