Supported by Department of Science & Technology, SRiX (SR Innovation Exchange) & the city of Warangal is geared to transform the region into an innovation hub, bringing entrepreneurial spirit and creating new and exciting opportunities for students and entrepreneurs. Department of Science and Technology has extended a grant of 9 Cr for this 14Cr SRiX project.
Warangal, India, March 5, 2018: SR Group today announced the launch of SRiX (SR Innovation Exchange – www.srix.in), a Technology Business Incubator (TBI) in Telangana. Located in SR Engineering College (SREC) campus in Warangal, this 1,00,000 square foot state of the art technology Business Incubator is supported by Dept. of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India to accelerate the start-up eco-system.
Formally inaugurated by Shri KT Rama Rao, Hon’ble IT Minister Government of Telangana, SRiX is built for start-ups from all over the country to nurture innovative ideas into successful companies, with a focus on agriculture, clean tech, IOT, hardware and related cutting-edge technologies, equipped with business-friendly workspaces, IOT Workshop, and Prototyping facilities make SRiX the most desirable location for start-ups.
Addressing the gathering the IT Minister stated SRiX is probably the biggest in the state of Telangana and in a Tier II city. He also said this is the first Incubator center that hosts a Maker and Prototype space. He further commended the SRiX incubation initiative headstart citing the example 8 startups who have started incubation at SRiX. He also commended SRiX for winning the DST grant amidst stiff competition from other institutions from Telangana. He added the government will extend all their support for the growth of startups by being the first customer.
To further boost its purpose, SRiX announced cooperation agreement with the newly formed Warangal Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE) and Kakatiya Angles. The formation of these two organisations was announced immediately after the inauguration of SRiX.
Sri Harkesh Mittal , Head -Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Tech. Commercialisation, DST, GOI while congratulating SRiX for winning the grant and support from DST said the role of DST will be to extend financial and networking support for the Technology Business Innovation Exchange -SRiX.
These initiatives by SR Group will create exciting opportunities for all by providing space for research innovation, business development, and student enterprise. The Exchange is backed by a real and virtual support system consisting of mentors, subject matter experts, investors and business service providers.
A Varada Reddy, Chairman of SR Group, said the initial focus at SRiX will be in the field of Agriculture, Manufacturing, & Management of Energy, Water & Waste, Inclusive growth cantered Rural Empowerment, Education, and Internet of Things. In the first year, SriX will incubate 40 promising start-ups and help them create an impact. In the next five years, SRiX expect to add and create enormous high-value Businesses and Entrepreneurs.
It’s time Entrepreneurship and Innovation get rooted in our culture in totality than remain to be mere buzz words, Sreedevi Devireddy, CEO of SRiX said. Our goal is to build the largest cluster of high-growth, high-value enterprises in India. Start-ups who have started incubating with us are Dinely, Sanshodan E-Waste Exchange, Gram Thejus, VYOM IOT, Stumagz, Orange Tree Technologies, Robotries, she added.
Kakatiya Angels was also unveiled by the minister, formed by few HNIs of the region. Kakatiya Angels will support incubates from SRiX as well as other promising start-ups in India by providing capital and mentoring.
The initiation of TiE Warangal in association with TiE Hyderabad at SRiX campus is a step in the right direction to bring momentum for strengthening of Incubation, Networking and Mentorship activities vital for the growth of entrepreneurship in the region. SRiX and TiE will have a good synergy going forward – to build, nurture and help flourish the start-up ecosystem in the State.
