Zariyaa - Student led initiative

National, July 7, 2025 — In a powerful display of youth-driven social impact, students from St. Xavier’s High School, Gurugram are stepping far beyond classroom boundaries to lead change through two student-founded initiatives: Heal.Ed and Project Spark. Focused on empowering underserved children through health education and academic support, their latest collaborative effort—Zariyaa—took center stage on July 6 at Club Florence, Gurgaon.

Spearheaded by Grade 11 student Seerat Khanna, Zariyaa served as both a fundraiser and a creative showcase. The event featured over 20 children from partner NGOs, many of whom had never performed publicly, presenting inspiring acts in music, dance, and drama. These performances were a culmination of months of workshops and mentorship conducted by the student teams, demonstrating not just emerging talent—but newfound confidence.

“We wanted to offer more than access—we wanted to offer a platform,” shared Seerat. “Zariyaa was about recognition, dignity, and celebrating the brilliance these children carry.”

St. Xavier’s teens are proving that age is no barrier to driving health equity and educational upliftment

The event also featured a panel discussion with leaders from the education, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors, focusing on sustainable models to uplift marginalized communities. Attendees included students, educators, policy thinkers, and change-makers.

The word ‘Zariyaa’, meaning pathway or medium, echoed the larger mission: to be a bridge for unheard voices, unseen talent, and untold potential. All proceeds from the event will go toward scaling Heal.Ed’s mental health and wellness programs and Project Spark’s academic mentorship for children in need.

This initiative stands as a compelling testament to the power of young leadership, empathy-led innovation, and the belief that change can—and often does—begin in the classroom.
