New Delhi, February 27, 2025 – The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), in collaboration with Avaana Capital, LetsVenture, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), IVCA, HDFC, and other key stakeholders, has announced the launch of the Startup Maha Rathi Challenge as part of the second edition of Startup Mahakumbh. This flagship initiative aims to empower startups across India with funding, mentorship, and strategic guidance, aligning with the country’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Startup Maha Rathi Challenge will provide access to a ₹30 crore fund, mentorship from industry leaders, and networking opportunities with global investors. Additionally, special awards will be granted to innovative startups from emerging states and union territories, ensuring a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Designed to foster innovation across 11 high-growth sectors, the challenge will support startups in:

- Gaming & Sports

- Incubators & Accelerators
- Mobility

- B2B & Precision Manufacturing

- ClimateTech
- Defence & SpaceTech
The challenge will culminate in a live pitching finale from April 3-5, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Selected startups will not only gain national recognition but also have access to mentorship, funding, and investor connections through a jury of over 100 leading VCs, angel investors, and industry experts.
Funding & Awards
- Each startup shortlisted for the grand jury round will receive ₹1 lakh.
- The top two startups per sector will be awarded ₹10 lakh each.
- The next five startups per sector will receive ₹5 lakh each.
- The next five startups per track will receive ₹3 lakh each.
In addition to financial grants, startups will benefit from expert guidance, investor networking, and global exposure through Startup India.
