17th June 2020: Underlining its commitment to democratizing access to quality education, Toppr, India’s most advanced and comprehensive mobile application for personalized learning, has announced the launch of a program called Toppr Asha. This program is supported by Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. The program, which is a part of Toppr’s CSR campaign, aims to systematically improve the performance of secondary gradestudents from underserved and low-income families through the Toppr learning app.
With this initiative, Toppr plans to enrol upto 5,000meritorious studentsin grades 9th to 12th and provide them free access to Toppr’s Advance Pack Subscription. The students will be supported by a team of academic counsellors through the year. Starting from June 2020, the year-long program will allow students to access learning materials and attend video lecturesat a convenient time after school using the Toppr app from their smartphones/tablets/laptops/desktops. It will cover a wide range of subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Social Science, Business Studies, Economics, and General Knowledge, among others.
The performance of the students will be evaluated based on their usage of the app through the year and final assessment conducted by Toppr. Based on their performance, rewards worth upto Rs 10,000 will be provided to students.
Speaking on the initiative, ZishaanHayath, CEO, Toppr.com, said, “The pandemic’s impact on schooling has further widened the already pervasive learning gap as access to quality education is often directly proportional to access to resources and family wealth. As schools remain closed for the unforeseeable future, economically disadvantaged students do not have access to necessary tools or platforms to participate in remote learning. We have rolled out this initiative to address this need-gap by ensuring that each and every student, regardless of their background, gets a fair opportunity to continue their learning journey uninterrupted.”
“The program aims to close the achievement gap by ensuring students from low-income families have access to Toppr’s platform, as well as a team of academic counsellors. We are excited to partner with Toppr to create a level playing field in the Indian education system,” added Prachi Jain Windlass, Director, India Programs, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation
