India, September 13, 2025 – Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) drive economic growth across the globe, representing 90% of all businesses and generating over half of worldwide employment, according to World Bank data. In emerging economies, these businesses contribute up to 40% of GDP. Despite their economic significance, SMEs consistently face higher business travel costs and operational complexities compared to large corporations.
The Business Travel News 2025 SME Report reveals that SMEs now dominate corporate travel spending globally and demonstrate the highest resilience and adaptability in the sector. However, these businesses remain locked out of enterprise-level travel management tools, forcing them to navigate fragmented booking systems, excessive cancellation penalties, and non-compliant vendor networks.
India’s corporate travel market reached USD 38.2 billion in 2023-24, according to the FICCI–GBTA Index. While multinational corporations leverage global contracts and sophisticated travel management platforms, SMEs continue managing travel through manual processes across disparate booking portals – a practice that inflates costs and diminishes productivity.
TripGain today announced its SME Program launch, delivering enterprise-grade travel and expense management specifically designed for smaller businesses. The comprehensive solution includes pre-negotiated airfares, GST-compliant booking processes, transparent cancellation fees beginning at ₹99, cashback rewards, and round-the-clock human support – benefits traditionally reserved for large corporate clients.
“India’s SMEs power our economy, yet they’re penalized with higher travel costs than major corporations,” explained Sudheer Reddy, Co-founder of TripGain. “Our SME Initiative eliminates this disparity by extending Fortune 500-level advantages to small businesses, minus the operational complexity and premium pricing.”
Co-founder Ranga Prasad emphasized the productivity dimension: “Small companies face hidden costs beyond inflated fares – employees waste countless hours managing multiple booking platforms, pursuing refunds, and handling policy violations. TripGain’s SME Initiative returns that lost time through cashback incentives and streamlined policy workflows. We’re making business travel intelligent, seamless, and compatible with how Indian SMEs actually function.”
TripGain positions travel management efficiency as a critical catalyst for SME expansion in India’s evolving business landscape.
