Unity, a global gaming software company, along with The Circle, an innovative space for young and upcoming entrepreneurs/professionals in Gurgaon, has created a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for gaming start-ups, game creators, artists, developers, students and Unity enthusiasts.
This curated platform, a first of its kind in Delhi NCR, will serve as an entity to provide facilities for experiencing concepts, testing and demonstrating solutions, sharing best practices, techincal support and training for all augmented/virtual/mixed reality start-ups, and a community place for gaming enthusiasts to meet-up and connect with like-minded people. The CoE will also run corporate programs to connect them with innovative start-ups, and facilitate funding of these start-ups through VC connections.
In an effort to make this collaboration a pioneer in the APAC region, a Unity Bootcamp has been announced in collaboration with the CoE for AR/VR & Gaming, to be held between the 24th and 28th June 2019. This will be followed by a Certificate Exam, on the 29th June at The Circle.
The event was a great success and saw high energy and enthusiasm from all participants. The topics discussed by the eminent speakers ranged from best practices in game development, making combat games, creating 3D robots, to testing drone AI algorithms. 9 interesting games, built in India on the Unity platform were also showcased, and drew fabulous reviews from the crowd.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sharatchandra Aithal, Unity Technologies. He started out with an introduction of Unity Roadmap; this was followed by a discussion on the ‘Best practises in gaming and development, led by Mr. Jha, Hashtash. A presentation on ‘Going cross-platform with Unity AR foundation’ was given by Mr. Sharma, Kingster636 Games, as well.
As the event unfolded, a panel discussion was held on themes such as ‘Making a AAA combat game for mobile’, by Mr. Anurag Rana, CEO Threye Interactive and ‘Robot using Unity 3D and 2000Rs’ by Ms. Anubha Maneshwar, Founder & CEO of GirlScript Foundation.
Post panel discussions on the above topics, Nemesisa Ujjain, Director of Innovation Projects The Circle, enunciated on the need to enable the startup ecosystem with the recent collaboration between The Centre of Excellence and Unity Technologies; following this, Mr Fernandes, from New Space Research and Technologies gave a talk on ‘Using Unity and Airsim to test Drone AI algorithms’.
