Mumbai | 17 September 2026: Valmo, the logistics arm of Meesho, has launched an initiative to make Income Tax Return (ITR) filing simpler and more accessible for its delivery partners. The programme helps partners understand and fulfil their tax obligations, claim refunds of excess TDS where eligible, and build a formal financial record.
Since its launch in July 2026, approximately 10,000 Valmo delivery partners have initiated ITR filing, with refunds worth ~₹2 crore claimed. Notably, nearly 70% of those who filed are first‑time tax filers, underscoring the programme’s role in driving financial inclusion.
Programme Relevance
Delivery partners, including bike riders, often face tax deducted at source (TDS) from their payouts. Filing an ITR enables them to:
- Claim refunds where tax deducted exceeds final liability
- Create a formal income record to support access to financial services
- Establish documented income history for long‑term financial aspirations
Dhiresh Bansal, Chief Financial Officer, Meesho: “As Valmo’s network grows, we want to make ITR filing simpler and more accessible for our partners. It is encouraging that nearly two‑thirds of those who initiated filing are first‑time filers, reinforcing the potential of initiatives like this to drive greater financial inclusion.”
Accessibility & Support
To make filing easy, Valmo reached partners through:
- WhatsApp and its Training Management System (TMS)
- Communications rolled out in seven languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali
- Direct access to the ClearTax platform for filing, with support available throughout the process
Broader Impact
The ITR filing programme is part of Valmo’s wider mission to create meaningful economic opportunities for individuals and small businesses across its logistics network. By helping partners navigate formal processes like tax filing, Valmo complements earning opportunities with greater access to the formal financial ecosystem.
As the network scales, Valmo will continue to explore ways to support the financial wellbeing and long‑term economic participation of its partners.
