- Over 300 high-risk self-harm cases were successfully addressed in the past year
- More than 1,000 potential incidents were prevented through early counselling and continuous follow-up
- LISSUN’s omnichannel mental health model now operates across 40+ cities nationwide
Gurugram, 13 August 2025: LISSUN, one of India’s fastest-growing mental health platforms, has announced a major milestone – delivering structured emotional wellness counselling to over 1,00,000 students across India, while preventing more than 1,000 potential self-harm cases through early intervention and continuous follow-up.
This mission began in Kota, India’s coaching hub, where student suicides have been a persistent tragedy. In January 2023, LISSUN launched its first large-scale Emotional Wellness Camp in partnership with Career Point University, Kota, pioneering on-ground psychological support for students under extreme academic pressure. Since then, its work has expanded to 40+ cities, partnering with 20+ educational and coaching institutions to embed mental health into the core of academic life.
Intervening Before It’s Too Late
In the past year alone, LISSUN’s licensed psychologists have:
- Intervened in 300+ high-risk self-harm cases.
- Prevented over 1,000 potential incidents through AI-driven risk alerts, digital screenings, and personalised counselling.
- Delivered hybrid on-site and virtual therapy to ensure no student is left unsupported.
The approach tackles not only academic stress but also isolation, peer pressure, and fear of failure — factors that the NCRB attributes to a growing number of student suicides (13,044 in 2022).
Supreme Court Verdict Strengthens LISSUN’s Mission
On 25 July 2025, the Supreme Court issued 15 binding directives for schools, colleges, hostels, and coaching centres, including:
- Mandatory counsellor appointments.
- Visible mental health helplines.
- Standardised wellness policies.
The Court also recognised psychological well-being as a constitutional right under Article 21, acknowledging that education must go hand-in-hand with emotional support.
Dr. Krishna Veer Singh, Co-founder & CEO, LISSUN, said: “Supporting over one lakh students is a defining moment for us — it’s proof that structured, compassionate, and clinically strong interventions can save lives. The Supreme Court’s ruling is a powerful validation of what we’ve been working towards since 2023: making mental health a non-negotiable part of the educational experience.”
Omnichannel Model for Academic Institutions
LISSUN’s education-focused omnichannel model includes:
- On-site mental health professionals for regular counselling and emergency response.
- Digital screening tools for early identification of at-risk students.
- AI-powered alerts that flag psychological distress before it escalates.
- Teacher, parent, and student training for early recognition and intervention.
- 24/7 helplines and virtual therapy to ensure uninterrupted care.
This framework mirrors the Supreme Court’s directives and can be rapidly deployed nationwide.
