Inauguration of the IIT Mandi Catalyst Satellite Centre at Galgotias University

Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India | 13th January 2026: Galgotias University has inaugurated the IIT Mandi Catalyst Satellite Centre on its campus, marking a major step towards strengthening innovation-led education, entrepreneurship, and India’s rapidly expanding startup ecosystem. The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to building future-ready platforms that empower students and researchers to convert ideas into scalable, real-world solutions.

The inauguration brought together academic leaders and innovators to promote research translation, deep-tech innovation, and startup creation, underscoring the growing role of academia-driven ecosystems in national capacity building and technology-led entrepreneurship. The newly launched centre aims to support early-stage startups, encourage industry-relevant research, and bridge the gap between laboratory research and market application.

The prestigious event was attended by Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, as the Guest of Honour. Their presence highlighted a shared vision of strengthening India’s innovation and startup landscape through collaborative academic leadership.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO, Galgotias University, said, “Innovation and entrepreneurship must be deeply embedded within the academic ecosystem. The launch of the IIT Mandi Catalyst Satellite Centre reinforces our commitment to equipping students and researchers with the right mentorship, infrastructure, and industry exposure to build scalable, impact-driven ventures that contribute meaningfully to India’s innovation economy.”

A key highlight of the event was the signing of two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)—one between Galgotias University and NIT Jamshedpur, and another with Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi. These partnerships will facilitate joint research programmes, faculty and student exchanges, co-creation of deep-tech startups, access to advanced laboratories, and shared incubation and acceleration initiatives.

These collaborations are expected to strengthen the innovation pipeline, accelerate the conversion of academic research into market-ready solutions, improve access to funding, and create nationwide opportunities for student entrepreneurs and startups. The event also witnessed the participation of Prof. N. K. Goyal, CSAI & CMAI, along with other distinguished academicians and ecosystem stakeholders.

The inauguration of the IIT Mandi Catalyst Satellite Centre reaffirms Galgotias University’s vision of integrating academic excellence with entrepreneurship and innovation, enabling young innovators to emerge as drivers of technological advancement and sustainable economic growth in India.
