New Delhi, November 24, 2023: India SME Forum (ISF), the nation’s largest non-governmental organization for small and medium businesses, hosted a National Summit to launch IndiaXports 2.0. This innovative mass export development program aims to empower 200,000 first-time exporters, facilitating entry into international markets through robust export readiness and capacity building.
Shri Narayan Rane, Hon’ble Union Minister of MSME, Government of India, commended ISF for fostering MSME growth. He emphasized the significance of IndiaXports 2.0 in aligning with the government’s vision for industrial expansion and global trade. The pilot project in 2021, supported by the minister, witnessed substantial participation, with over 8 lakh entrepreneurs benefiting from mentoring for 1190 MSMEs to overcome export challenges.
Mr. Ateesh Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, highlighted the impressive MSME registrations on the Udyam portal, emphasizing the unrealized potential in MSME exports. Government initiatives aim to bridge knowledge gaps in e-commerce, crucial for greater MSME involvement in global trade.
Mr. Santosh Sarangi, IAS, Director General of Foreign Trade, stressed the need for concerted efforts to achieve the ambitious $2 trillion export target. He highlighted MSMEs’ pivotal role in enhancing manufacturing competitiveness and contributing significantly to India’s global exports.
Mr. Chetan Krishnaswamy, Vice President, Public Policy, Amazon, underscored the transformative impact of e-commerce exports, democratizing cross-border commerce. Amazon’s focus on improving selection, value, and delivery experience has seen a significant increase in sellers, showcasing Indian products globally.
Mr. Vinod Kumar, President, India SME Forum, expressed dedication to empowering MSMEs through ‘IndiaXports 2.0.’ This initiative, free of cost, aims to nurture export capabilities and enhance entrepreneurial capacities, propelling MSMEs onto the global stage.
The event featured esteemed guests discussing challenges and proposing strategies for economic growth. Topics included regulatory compliance, competition, innovation, quality standards, certifications, and the role of soft power in promoting e-commerce exports. The launch marks a transformative milestone in MSME empowerment, fostering a global landscape of opportunities.
