Navi UPI Becomes First to Launch Biometric Payments at Scale in India, Unveils One-Step Onboarding at Global Fintech Festival 2025

Mumbai, 7 October 2025 – Navi UPI has announced the rollout of two major innovations at the Global Fintech Festival 2025: biometric authentication for UPI payments and a simplified onboarding experience. With this launch, Navi becomes the first UPI app in India to enable biometric-based transactions at scale—allowing users to authenticate payments using fingerprint or face recognition, without entering a PIN.

Biometric Authentication: Fast, Secure, Seamless
Built on secure OS-native frameworks, Navi’s biometric authentication makes UPI payments faster and more intuitive. Transactions are approved directly on the user’s device, with no PIN required. Since authentication occurs within the phone’s secure environment, personal data remains protected—offering one of the safest ways to pay digitally.

The feature is designed to reduce failed transactions, enhance ease of use, and protect against phishing and social engineering threats. Users can toggle biometric authentication on or off within the Navi app.

Simplified Onboarding: UPI Setup in Minutes
Navi also introduced a streamlined onboarding flow that reduces setup steps and improves auto-verification, enabling new users to activate UPI accounts and start transacting within minutes.

Both features are being rolled out in phases across Android and iOS devices and will be available to all Navi UPI users in the coming days.
