Crayon Software Ventures into ISV Incubation with AWS in Bengaluru Debut

The center aims to assist indigenous ISVs and startups in overcoming hurdles related to constructing and expanding digital solutions for the public sector while harnessing the innovative services provided by AWS.

New Delhi | 29 November 2023: Crayon Software Experts India (Crayon), a global leader in digital transformation services, has unveiled its inaugural Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Incubation Center in Bengaluru. This pioneering center, a collaboration with Amazon Web Services India Private Limited (AWS India), is dedicated to assisting India-based ISVs and startups in crafting cloud-based digital solutions for crucial public sector domains, including agriculture, healthcare, utilities, smart infrastructure, and edtech.

ISVs and startups grapple with numerous challenges in constructing viable solutions for the public sector. These challenges include staying abreast of rapid technological advancements, selecting the right technologies, minimizing time-to-market, and delivering solutions to public sector customers with enhanced governance and data security. The newly established incubation center, a joint effort by Crayon and AWS India, aims to tackle these challenges by empowering ISVs and startups—both early-stage and mature—with the technical and business acumen needed to bring their ideas to market. The program also supports them in building and scaling solutions to meet the needs of public sector organizations, ultimately enhancing citizen services.

During their incubation, ISVs and startups will benefit from comprehensive support provided by AWS, Crayon, and their partners. This includes training on crafting a cloud business strategy, understanding customer demographics, infrastructure migration, software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution development, and leveraging advanced cloud capabilities such as machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, participants will gain access to industry mentors, experts, and partners through curated sessions and networking activities, including roundtable events and executive briefings. The program will conclude with a Demo Day to showcase startup progress.

Vikas Bhonsle, CEO at Crayon Software Experts India, stated, “India has the world’s third-largest startup hub, and local ISVs and startups have groundbreaking ideas that solve meaningful public sector challenges and drive positive citizen outcomes. By launching our first ISV Incubation Center in India, we are using Crayon’s decades of experience of engaging ISVs to help these companies turn their ideas into reality. We are thrilled to collaborate with AWS for this milestone initiative; AWS’s broadest and deepest set of cloud services, deep public sector expertise, and global reach will be crucial in helping more up-and-coming ISVs and startups to grow and scale.”

AWS and Crayon will accelerate the development of ISVs to become members of the AWS Partner Network (APN). AWS will provide technical expertise, funding, go-to-market resources, and increased visibility to customers through the APN. The collaboration will guide the identified ISVs through technical validation using the AWS Well-Architected Review framework, followed by assistance with procurement paths, go-to-market readiness, and business plan development.

Sunil PP, Lead—Education, Space, Non-profits, Channels and Alliances at AWS India Private Limited, emphasized, “AWS is committed to enabling local small businesses to drive economic and social impact, and we are pleased to collaborate with Crayon to empower homegrown ISVs and startups to innovate using the power of the cloud.”

The collaboration aims to foster innovation in AI and ML, with Gagandeep Randhawa, CEO at EaseMyAI, expressing enthusiasm about leveraging AWS’s global expertise to enhance market readiness. EaseMyAI, an ISV developing innovative AI products, is part of the first cohort at the incubation center.

This initiative aligns with a recent Accenture report commissioned by AWS, which suggests that small businesses embracing cloud-enabled technologies in India’s education, healthcare, and agriculture sectors could unlock up to ₹1.6 trillion in annual productivity gains by 2030—a 152% increase on current levels.
