LG Electronics Commemorates World Environment Day with Sustainable Actions

NEW DELHI, 06 June 2024 – Embracing the theme “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration” of World Environment Day 2024 (June 5), the focus was directed towards land restoration, combating desertification, and bolstering resilience against droughts. In the face of such monumental environmental challenges, it is imperative for companies, particularly those with a global footprint, to take proactive steps and lead the charge. LG, as an organization deeply committed to the welfare of both people and the planet, embeds responsible practices and innovative technologies into its global operations. Furthermore, LG champions a better future by designing energy-efficient home appliances and actively participating in land restoration initiatives worldwide.

LG Electronics India marked World Environment Day with a series of impactful sustainability events geared towards nurturing a brighter, greener future. Continuing its tradition of instilling environmental consciousness and community responsibility among employees, LG organized various activities to foster a sense of environmental stewardship.

The celebrations commenced on June 4, 2024, with an e-waste collection drive held at LG Corporate Office, KP Tower, Noida. Employees wholeheartedly participated by bringing in old gadgets for responsible disposal. Multiple e-waste management awareness sessions were conducted across India in collaboration with LG’s recycling partners, emphasizing the significance of proper e-waste disposal and management practices.

On June 5, 2024, LG’s sustainability efforts extended with a Plantation Drive at Greater Noida & Pune manufacturing facilities. Employees were encouraged to plant trees not only at their workplace but also in their homes or local communities, involving their families in the initiative. Many shared their tree-planting experiences on social media, spreading awareness and inspiring others to contribute to a greener planet.

LG Electronics India takes immense pride in its sustainable initiatives, actively driving its e-waste Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligation in partnership with major recyclers across India.

Mr. Hong Ju Jeon, Managing Director of LG Electronics India, expressed, “At LG Electronics, our ‘Life’s Good’ vision propels us to pursue sustainability across all facets of our operations. The activities on World Environment Day underscore our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. We are incredibly proud of our employees’ enthusiasm and collective efforts in fostering a greener, more sustainable future.”

Since 2021, LG Electronics India has maintained a 3.1 KM green area in Greater Noida, accompanied by a Miyawaki Forest comprising 12,000 plants, showcasing its enduring dedication to environmental preservation.
