New Delhi | August 19, 2025 — TOTO GALLERY・MA, the architecture and design-focused cultural initiative by TOTO LTD., Japan, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Since its founding in Tokyo in 1985, the gallery has become a global platform for architectural storytelling, hosting over 179 exhibitions and 313 lectures, and welcoming more than 1.5 million visitors.
Dedicated to fostering creative exchange, the gallery has consistently brought together renowned architects and emerging voices to explore the intersection of design, society, and the environment.
🇮🇳 Expanding the Dialogue in India
To commemorate this milestone, TOTO is deepening its engagement with India’s design community. The Delhi showroom, already a hub for architectural dialogue, will host curated experiences and showcase works by celebrated Japanese architect Tadao Ando, Special Advisor to the gallery. These titles will be available in the showroom library to encourage cross-cultural design conversations between Japan and India.
With Indian architects increasingly shaping sustainable, inclusive, and context-driven design, the gallery’s philosophy of a design-led approach finds renewed relevance in India’s evolving architectural landscape.
Upcoming Exhibitions
As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, TOTO GALLERY・MA will present a series of exhibitions, including:
- A tribute to Kazuo Shinohara on the centenary of his birth
- A showcase by Marina Tabassum, the award-winning South Asian architect
Each exhibition is designed to offer immersive experiences that reflect the architect’s values and vision.
Publishing Legacy
Since 1995, the gallery has collaborated with TOTO Publishing, launching 405 titles and distributing over 3.06 million copies across 31 countries and regions. This publishing arm has played a vital role in facilitating global architectural discourse.
