Ankita Saikia, Co-Founder of Skara

Ankita Saikia’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2003 when she co-founded a study abroad consultancy and an education exhibition company. At a time when such initiatives were uncommon in the region, Ankita’s efforts broke new ground. Despite facing initial challenges, her business quickly became the leading player in the entire northeastern region, demonstrating her resilience and ability to navigate obstacles. This early success laid the foundation for her subsequent entrepreneurial ventures.

In 2017, Ankita expanded her horizons by launching a digital design agency in Guwahati, Assam. During this period, one of her engineers created a video product purely by chance, which sparked Ankita’s interest in the growing trend of online video consumption. Recognizing a significant opportunity, she founded Skara in 2021—an intuitive, no-code platform that empowers video creators to launch their own white-label video streaming apps and websites within minutes.

Ankita’s vision for Skara was clear: to provide creators the freedom to create, monetize, and most importantly, maintain complete ownership of their revenue. Unlike other platforms, Skara does not take a single penny of the creator’s earnings. Building a no-code video platform in a Tier 3 city posed challenges, but Ankita’s unwavering determination and resilience in navigating the unpredictable business environment proved invaluable to the company’s growth.

Ankita is an alumna of Dibrugarh University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Sales and Marketing. Her commitment to professional growth led her to complete the Goldman Sachs 10k Women Entrepreneurship Program at IIM-Bangalore, further strengthening her entrepreneurial expertise.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Ankita is an avid trekker with over 25 years of experience. She frequently explores the Himalayas, with her trek to the Everest Base Camp being her most notable achievement. Beyond trekking, she has a passion for cooking and enjoys experimenting with diverse cuisines from around the world.
