8th April 2020: To combat the COVID-19 crisis, Cosmeto Food, a Risers Accelerator funded company, manufacturer of organic skincare products, has started manufacturing hand sanitizers. The company has fast established itself as an organic manufacturer and has now set up a special plant in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh, just for producing quality hand sanitizers.

According to WHO (World Health Organization) one of the most effective ways of fighting COVID-19 is to regularly sanitize your hands in order to kill any COVID-19 strain that may have found its way to your skin through contaminated surfaces. The hand sanitizers, therefore, have become an indispensable tool in the battle against Coronavirus.

“Running a factory under these circumstances is no easy task. With the shortage of labour, it is difficult to manage supply chain and procure raw materials and packaging materials. To counter the problem, the senior managers of the company are doing labour jobs and dedicating all 24 hours of the day to the task at hand. Temporary staying arrangements have been made at the factory to accommodate 35 people. They are being provided with daily necessities and their safety and well-being is being ensured by regular cleaning, sanitization, maintaining quality of rooms and following proper hygiene,” said Himanshu Chadha, owner, Cosmeto Food, funded by Risers Accelerator last year.

Cosmeto Food is distributing the sanitizers free of cost to various government hospitals and NGOs as a part of their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). Free sanitizers are also being distributed in the industrial areas of Narella, Kundli and Rai in Haryana to aid the labourers who have to work in dirty and filthy conditions.

Besides these places, the hand sanitizers are being supplied to 24 Central Police Canteens as well including canteens from Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Barielly, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Agra, Meerut, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Muradabad, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Bhinga and Balrampur. Delhi Police, Haryana Police, UP Police and Himachal Police are the major recipient of the product as they are at the epicentre of the breakout and are having to monitor the streets to enforce the curfew.

The hand sanitizers are being offered to the common populace as well at government regulated prices to make them easily affordable. The company has made it a point to sell the products on a cost to cost basis without deriving any profits, so as to prevent further spread of the pandemic.

At a time like this, when companies are struggling to survive, it is laudable that Cosmeto Food is launching a charitable initiative. It is a welcome change and an inspiring one at that.

The company is approved by US and UKFDA for hand sanitizers and the test has been done from UK-based lab which claims that these hand sanitizers kills 99.9% of germs.
