FITT Launches ‘Healthier India Program’ to Combat Cardio-Metabolic Diseases

New Delhi, August 28, 2025 – The Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi, has launched the Healthier India Program, a national initiative aimed at accelerating innovation in the fight against cardio-metabolic diseases (CMDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders.

Supported by the Atal Innovation Mission (NITI Aayog), the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the Innovation Centre Denmark in India, the program brings together global expertise to develop scalable, affordable, and impactful health solutions. It offers startups and researchers access to technical mentorship, incubation, international exposure, and seed funding of up to ₹20 lakhs.

Challenge Categories

1. Community Screening & Diagnostics

  • Low-cost CMD screening tools
  • Non-invasive biomarkers
  • AI-powered risk stratification and early warning systems
  • Genetic and microbiome-based point-of-care diagnostics
  • Wearable alert systems for acute cardiovascular events

2. Disease Management & Patient Engagement

  • Smart wearables for CMD monitoring
  • Lifestyle platforms to prevent complications like retinopathy
  • Integrated care for multimorbidity in primary settings
  • Gestational diabetes management
  • Scalable cardiac rehab models
  • Medication adherence tools for dyslipidaemia and CMD therapies

Innovators with relevant solutions beyond these categories are also encouraged to apply.

Program Benefits

Selected startups will participate in bootcamps, receive expert mentoring, and gain access to FITT’s incubation ecosystem. The initiative was officially announced during the FITT Forward 2025 summit by H.E. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Ambassador of Denmark to India.
