New Delhi, September 06, 2019: Hosted by TiE Delhi-NCR, Women Entrepreneurship Summit: New Horizons 2019 effectively facilitated significant knowledge-sharing panels on new ideas, lifestyle businesses, funding dilemmas. This was followed by the role of BIRAC in enabling women to become entrepreneurs in biotech and technology, among other sessions. With this, TiE Delhi-NCR aimed to provide an interactive platform for women leaders of diverse genres to guide, empower and accelerate the growth of next-generation women entrepreneurs in India.

Addressing the session on Biotech Women Entrepreneurs and the role of BIRAC in enabling them, Dr Manish Diwan, Head of Strategic Partnership & Entrepreneurship Development, BIRAC, said, “Among all our beneficiaries, the 60 + women founders that we facilitate have shown excellent aptitude to transform chances into value. Federal agencies such as BIRAC act as enablers, facilitators and incubators for budding start-ups. Our objective is also to encourage the next batch of biotech entrepreneurs to see their venture not as a nice-to-have option but as a genuine vision.”

“India’s bio-economy stood at USD 50 billion in 2018. Biotech innovations, along with the sincere efforts of all stakeholders, can unlock the unlimited potential of this space, enabling it to reach USD 100 billion by 2025,” he added.

Upon receiving the WomENABLER Award, Sairee Chahal, Founder & CEO of Sheroes, said, “I have been a part of the TiE family for a long time and it is a great honour for me to be named one of the WomENABLERs for the year 2019. I envision to build a space where a hundred million women and more can be part of the ecosystem. That’s how you’re creating a USD 5 trillion economy.
