Mumbai, December 2022: Istituto Marangoni Mumbai and Jodhpur Polo Association united to showcase the best works of the top three students in a historic and luxurious event, the H.H Maharaja of the Jodhpur Cup, at the stunning RAAS Jodhpur with the Mehrangarh Fort as the backdrop. The blend of Italian heritage and the sport of kings paid homage to art in design and sports.
The event kicked off with a panel discussion, ‘Artisans of Love’, exploring the use of Indian craft in modern-day global design. Renowned experts in the field, including Monica Shah, Ivan Oddos, Mevin Murden, Manu Sharma, Dhruv Pal Godara, and Rachana Singh, debated topics from redefining traditional luxury to sustainability, contemporary design, timelessness, craftsmanship, and ownership in design and consumer behavior. The event concluded with a showcase of JADE’s contemporary pieces, highlighting the rich Indian heritage of refined craftsmanship in a modern context.
Monica Shah, Co-founder of JADE and Chanakya School of Craft said, “Our artisanal legacy is what sets us apart from the world. And the only way to sustain it is through innovation – to bring these crafts into the mainstream, reimagine them in modern, current forms and make them relevant generation after generation.”
In attendance was the best of Jodhpur with Her Highness, Rani Uttara Singh Rathore, Her Highness Jahnavi Kumari Mevar and former Indian Polo Team Captain Polo Dhruv Pal Godara.
Speaking about the event, the Director of Education, Istituto Marangoni, Mumbai, Mr. Mevin Murden, said, “We were deeply honoured to be invited to be part of the Jodhpur Polo season and offered the opportunity to showcase the wonderful work of our students to a graceful audience alongside JADE. We are also very thankful to the amazing panellists for such and passionate and intellectual discussion.”
Ankur Mishra, Member, Organising Committee of Jodhpur Polo Association said, “It was great to have Istituto Marangoni in the 23rd Jodhpur Polo Season. Polo & Fashion are a match made in heaven. And the association of two stalwarts in their respective fields – Jodhpur Polo and Istituto Marangoni – is undoubtedly perfect!
The talk was on point as it touched upon so many important aspects, yet unknown to the general public. I was amazed by the passion and knowledge of the panellists; they were upbeat, thorough and had a wealth of knowledge in their respective fields. A well-chosen topic and speakers, kudos to the entire team of Istituto Marangoni.
We at Jodhpur Polo look forward to a longer association and many such exciting events, together.”
Talking about the collaboration, Tarun Pandey COO, Istituto Marangoni Mumbai said, “We are thrilled about our first collaboration with Jodhpur Polo showcasing our student work to la crème of Jodhpur and discussing the important topic of heritage craft preservation and revival.”
