Patanjali’s Acharya Balkrishna and Sri Aurobindo Society’s Sambhrant Sharma Strengthen Push for IKS in Education

15 December 2025 | New Delhi, India: Sri Aurobindo Society successfully concluded the 2nd International Conference on Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in School Education – The Panel Series (Virtual), bringing together national leaders, scholars, educators, and policymakers to advance India’s growing movement toward embedding Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into contemporary school education.

The conference witnessed the participation of Acharya Balkrishna, Managing Director, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd., and Mr. Sambhrant Sharma, Executive Board Member, Sri Aurobindo Society, who jointly reinforced their shared vision of revitalising India’s civilisational wisdom through structured, research‑informed educational frameworks.

Building on the Momentum of the IKS Charter
This edition builds on the success of the first conference held in November, where Sri Aurobindo Society launched the IKS Charter – India’s first framework for responsible, research‑backed implementation of Indian Knowledge Systems in schools. The second edition deepened the conversation by focusing on classroom‑ready, scalable, and pedagogically sound approaches to integrating IKS across subjects and grade levels.

A Nationwide Movement: 7 Lakh Teachers Reached
The two‑day virtual panel series brought together:

  • National and international IKS experts
  • Educators and school leaders
  • Scholars and researchers
  • Policymakers and institutional partners

Through live sessions, digital dissemination, and institutional collaborations, the conference reached nearly 7 lakh teachers across India. Sri Aurobindo Society’s broader education initiatives now engage with over 30 lakh teachers nationwide, making it one of the largest education‑transformation networks in the country.

Acharya Balkrishna Highlights the Scientific Depth of IKS
A key highlight was the address by Acharya Balkrishna, whose presence added significant weight to the national conversation on IKS. Reflecting on the scientific foundations of Indian knowledge traditions, he said:

“Indian Knowledge Systems are not beliefs or assumptions; they are facts, documented and validated through our Shastras. Our ancient knowledge is profoundly scientific, and its relevance is even more critical in today’s world. I truly appreciate and fully support the multidimensional work Sri Aurobindo Society is doing to bring this wisdom into modern education.”

He also shared how Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of Atimanas (Supermind) shaped his thinking from a young age, underscoring the deep cultural and philosophical roots of India’s knowledge heritage.

We work with 30 lakh teachers across the country, and reaching seven lakh teachers through this conference reflects the growing national momentum toward responsible and meaningful IKS implementation.”
