India, Mumbai | 27th February 2020: Purpletutor, an Edtech firm focused on providing live, online classes on coding for kids has recently appointed Rajat Dhariwal as Chief Product Officer. Rajat brings onboard his rich experience in teaching kids at a school, running a board games start-up and creating a futuristic wearable gaming platform (Supersuit). Rajat has been a passionate educator, facilitating each child to have that Aha! moment on making a discovery and realizing the fascinating world around them is what drives him. He has more than 5 years of experience in teaching and curriculum development.

Purpletutor was started last year by a set of IIT Bombay alumni with the belief that technology impacts every field and computational thinking skills are for everyone, not just aspiring computer scientists. The idea is to build the next generation of technology innovators and equip children for the skill sets for tomorrow. Teaching coding to children builds the relevant skills sets. PurpleTutor has been growing rapidly over the last couple of months, and is looking to scale its product, increase courses and reach.

On his appointment, Gaurav Perti, Co-founder & CEO of PurpleTutor said “Rajat is an exciting & valuable addition to the team at PurpleTutor. His passion for product development, curriculum & computer science will bring tremendous value to the business. With him we look to build our product & curriculum to scale PurpleTutor to the next level”

Talking about his role, Rajat said, “I became a customer first, with my nephew taking a trial class with PurpleTutor. I was aware of this space emerging, but PurpleTutor’s focus on pedagogy and on making a real difference to children in becoming technology innovators rather than mere consumers, set them apart. I look forward to contributing to this journey by bringing together my background in education, entrepreneurship and computer science”

Rajat left his corporate career at Amazon to teach at an alternate education centre, Rishi Valley School. He subsequently co-founded a board games start-up, MadRat Games, which was awarded as the Top Ten Indian Innovators & Top Ten Startups in Asia. He was listed amongst the Fortune ‘40 Under 40′ Business Leaders of India, 2016.

Rajat is an alumus of IIT Bombay ( B.Tech, Computer Science) and Carnegie Mellon (MS).
