Shaji Varghese is the CEO of the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), a premier Technology Business Incubator housed at IIT Bombay. With nearly three decades of professional experience, he has established a distinguished career spanning private equity and venture capital (PE&VC), startup consulting, and capital market operations.
As a seasoned PE&VC professional, Shaji has led investments in technology startups, early-stage ventures, and small and medium enterprises across diverse industries. His expertise lies in identifying high-potential opportunities and working closely with founders and senior leadership teams to drive innovation, address business challenges, and unlock growth through the deployment of emerging technologies and innovative solutions.
Shaji has spearheaded multiple initiatives within portfolio companies, including operational efficiency improvements, strategic business planning, turnaround implementations, and the adoption of ESG frameworks for sustainable business growth.
Before joining SINE in February 2022, Shaji worked as an independent consultant and mentor to startups and early-stage ventures, advising founders on fundraising, business planning, and mergers and acquisitions.
An alumnus of Kerala University, Shaji holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with specializations in Finance and Marketing and is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (India).
