We are publishing an interview of Mr. Tamajit Mukherjee, Director, Tailorkraft.

About the founders
The founders are alumni of IIT BHU, Varanasi. Tamajit joined RIL after his B.Tech and Ankit joined IIT KGP for his PhD after a short stint at Jindal Steel. Ankit has since then built 4 software products for startups based in US, UK and HongKong. Tamajit has experience of handling Business Strategy and Operations in 2 startups.

What is the problem you are trying to solve? Can you share with us any insights that led you to believe that this is a big enough problem?
We’re trying to make bad fit disappear from the world. Bad fit is uncomfortable and is the reason for high returns in fashion ecommerce and other associated apparel brands (20-30% in the country and 40-50% abroad).

What is the uniqueness about your Startup?
We’re attempting to build a tech product to capture body measurements remotely and we’re the first to build a common platform for fashion enthusiasts and dressmakers.

Why do you choose crowdfunding?
It helps us to validate our idea as well as spread word about how we are trying to build an ecosystem which is a win-win formula for both dressmakers and fashion enthusiasts. If nothing else, this is a great way to test our idea in real world out there.

Why should anyone or investor back you?
Because we are trying to come up with a solution to all their fitting issues that have caused them discomfort till now. Plus, we are pledging double the service to show our appreciation for their contribution.

Where can people back your project?
You can back us on catapooolt where we are trying to be a changemaker.

What would you do after raising funds?
We will use the funds for initial marketing and key hiring.

What is the revenue model? What is the logic behind it? Explain your thought process.
People pay in exchange for the services.

Who are the consumers that you are targeting? How is this going to affect them?
Our initial target market is women in the age range of 18-40, primarily who remain busy or don’t like to waste time visiting tailors. The total target group is quite vast since great fit is universally desired.

What is the big picture of your startup? Will it lead to something bigger? If so, how?
The bigger picture is to come up with a product that connects dressmakers and fashion enthusiasts beyond geographical constraints, where someone from US or say India can order tailored garments from London sitting at their home.

What is the success story of your startup in your own words?
We have already made headway on creating the world’s first tailor marketplace and will soon roll out the prototype to get measurements remotely after a year of rigor.
