Bengaluru | 24 September 2026: Vedanta Oil and Gas Limited (NSE: VOGL | BSE: 544782) has reported that its Rajasthan operating cost held broadly steady at USD 16.4 a barrel for the year ended 31 March 2026, compared to USD 16.6 a barrel the previous year.
Across the business, operating cost was USD 15.5 per barrel of oil equivalent, down slightly from USD 15.6, even as gross operated production declined 16% to 87.2 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day due to natural field ageing.
Key Drivers of Cost Performance
- Optimised polymer injection.
- More cost‑effective chemical spend.
- Efficiency in maintenance activities supported by digital and AI systems.
A company spokesperson explained: “Running digital twins, predictive analytics and advanced process control across our Rajasthan fields is a large part of how we have kept lifting costs steady while the fields naturally decline.”
Digital & AI Integration
- Digital twins mirror pump behaviour, flagging deviations in real time.
- Advanced process control maintains equipment within operating limits.
- Machine learning and predictive analytics run against live well feeds.
- Data Driven Reservoir Management integrates production forecasts.
- iCairn generative AI platform supports safety monitoring, equipment analytics, and technical record retrieval.
- Quorum portfolio management system cuts planning and analysis time by ~30%.
- Cloud‑based seismic imaging tool processes data 20–30x faster, tested in Aishwariya and Krishna Godavari deepwater areas.
Operational Strategy
- 21 infill wells drilled across Rajasthan assets (Mangala, Bhagyam, Aishwariya, Tight Oil, Raageshwari Deep Gas, Saraswati).
- 9 exploration wells drilled (6 in OALP Cambay, 3 in Rajasthan Barmer).
- Dual approach: slowing decline through infill drilling while leveraging digital efficiency to hold costs steady.
