Valentine’s week is over and e-commerce platforms have played a major role in increasing consumer spending this year. Despite India’s witnessing an overall economic slump, discretionary spending during Valentine’s Day seemed to be no different. The online and offline market for Valentine’s Day gifts and experiences has steadily increased every year and the trend has continued this year as well. Valentine’s Day sales projections forecasted a record high for 2020 that is 21 percent higher than last year, according to data from the National Retail Federation.

Here are a few companies that saw an increase in sales during and after Valentine’s Day:

1. Zlade – A new-age brand offering a comprehensive line of men’s grooming products noticed a spike in growth in a number of orders for razors, shaving gel, blades, etc. Zlade being a men centric brand has seen a 200% increase amongst women buyers from tier 1 cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad for their men during Valentine’s week. V-day was one such occasion where they looked forward to engaging with the customers. For them, gifting took off and ended on a high note.

2. Vistaprint India – A lot of couples prefer customized and personalized gifting for V-day to express their love. VistaPrint is an online platform that provides top quality personalized printed products at affordable prices. Recently, unlike other festivals, they saw a boost in their sales for personalized products like mugs, T-shirts, cushions, etc. after Valentine’s Day. 

3. Gyftr – Valentine’s Day Market in India has definitely gone up over the years since the customers have turned towards online shopping. All thanks to carefully crafted advertising and marketing campaigns, customers end up buying a lot of unexpected and unplanned stuff. The digital gift voucher space has been growing at 70% year-on-year in India and this increase also reflects Valentine’s Day gifting space. Gyftr reached 50% of traction on 13th -14th February which was the largest in terms of volumes. This year, they clocked around 10 crores worth of transaction value which was a substantial jump compared to last year. 

4. Ferns n Petals – Flower and gift retailers Ferns N Petals launched special categories of gifts for millennial lovers, ranging from roses with a shelf life of two years, to a hot air balloon ride for the couple to make it more personalized for its customers. This year they have seen 65% overall growth in sales compared to last year’s Valentine’s day. 5. Aadvik Foods– Delhi-based Aadvik Foods, India’s first camel milk brand had curated Valentine’s special hampers with camel milk chocolates and camel milk skincare range. This year the brand saw a spike of more than 40% in sales compared to the previous year. According to the brand, customers are ready to spend more if it is a matter of health and going unconventional. We also ran an offer of 14% discounts on Camel Milk Chocolates, Sugar-free chocolates, and Skincare range – Body Butter and Day Cream individually, which worked well in our favour.
