STPI’s New Incubation Facility in Gurugram Aims to Revolutionize Blockchain Tech

Gurugram, October 20, 2023: Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has achieved a momentous milestone with the inauguration of the cutting-edge Apiary Center of Entrepreneurship (CoE) incubation facility at STPI-Gurugram by Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY). Distinguished guests attending the event included Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY; Shri Pankaj Thakar, Chief Mentor; Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI; Shri Devesh Tyagi, Senior Director, STPI; and Dr. Rajneesh Agrawal, Director, STPI-Gurugram.

The Apiary is a STPI CoE that centers its focus on Blockchain Technology, developed in partnership with MeitY, STPI, the Government of Haryana, Padup Ventures, IBM, Intel, GBA, and FITT. This pioneering CoE initiative is dedicated to recognizing and supporting promising startups while promoting entrepreneurship within the realm of Blockchain Technology. It boasts a fully furnished incubation space spanning 7,000 sq. ft., complete with 80 plug-and-play workstations, well-appointed conference rooms, and an auditorium. The ambitious goal is to incubate a total of 100 startups within a five-year period.

During the inauguration event, Shri S. Krishnan explored the Apiary incubation facility and engaged with the budding entrepreneurs.

“It was truly enriching to meet these young entrepreneurs. Their dedication to solving real-world challenges using cutting-edge technology is truly commendable. What sets these entrepreneurs apart is their global outlook; they are not confined by national borders. Over the last three decades, the way we’ve harnessed technology has been a key factor in our country’s remarkable growth,” remarked Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY.

Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, emphasized the potential of Blockchain technology for our nation’s economy. “Blockchain technology holds the promise of sustainability across a wide range of applications, from supply chain management to waste disposal. It has the potential to be a catalyst for sustainable growth.”

Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI, noted, “The Apiary CoE’s incubation facility will usher in a new era in the technology sector. Blockchain technology, often regarded as the most significant innovation since the internet, holds tremendous promise. The establishment of this incubation facility at the Apiary CoE is a significant step in India’s digital transformation journey.”

The inauguration was preceded by a conference on “Sustainable Development Goals Through Web 3.0,” which featured two insightful sessions: “Sustainable Development Goals With Web 3.0: Challenges and Opportunities” and “Business Transformation with Web 3.0.” Distinguished speakers, including Shri Pankaj Thakar, Chief Mentor of Apiary CoE and Founder of PadUp Ventures; Shri Subodh Sachan, Director (Startup & Innovation) at STPI; Shri Amit Jindal, Mentor of Apiary CoE and President of the Government Blockchain Association (NCR); Smt Anshu Bhartia, Former CEO of UnLtd India Social Incubator; and Shri Avneesh Saksena, Management Consultant, Mentor, and CEO & Executive Coach, shared valuable insights with the attending young entrepreneurs.
