EY employees will contribute by recording over 40,000 pages of content for audiobooks within just one month.
New Delhi, 20 December 2024: EY India, in collaboration with the National Association for the Blind (NAB), has launched the second edition of its ‘Talking Books’ initiative to create over 600 audiobooks, benefiting more than 1,00,000 visually impaired individuals across India. This initiative, a key part of the EY Ripples program, highlights EY employees’ commitment to driving social impact through skills-based volunteering aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of the initiative, EY employees will record over 40,000 pages of content within one month, significantly enhancing the availability of critical learning resources for the visually impaired community. Audiobooks serve as a vital educational and personal development tool for India’s visually impaired population, which includes approximately 5 million blind individuals and 35 million people with visual impairment.
Arti Dua, National Talent Leader, EY India, emphasized the initiative’s purpose: “Programs like Talking Books enable us to create opportunities for the differently abled to access essential learning resources. The overwhelming response from EY employees reflects our shared purpose of driving meaningful change and empowering communities. We will continue to expand our efforts to ensure inclusive access to learning.”
Prashant Ranjan Verma, General Secretary of the National Association for the Blind, expressed his gratitude, stating: “We are delighted by EY India employees’ participation and their contribution to enriching our library of audiobooks. This resource-building initiative holds immense value for the visually impaired, helping bridge the gap in access to quality learning tools.”
With over 4,000 EY Ripples volunteers in India, EY has positively impacted more than 11.5 million lives over the past four years through initiatives spanning education, environmental sustainability, and community development. The ‘Talking Books’ program reflects EY’s enduring commitment to inclusivity, education, and transformative social change.
