We are publishing an interview of Mr. Pavan Dharma, Founder, RooT Technologies – A Telangana based IoT startup makes a wearable & intuitive Glucometer for diabetic patients.
About the founders
Being founder of root technologies, I have expertise in field of embedded design and IoT architecture. I have been looking around to solve problems of real world & it turned me from being a hobbyist to founder of a start-up. I started strolling around and found med-tech industry is worth solving problems and also had good potential to solve. After seeing my neighbours and family pricking their fingers for sugar testing and using various devices for different diagnostic purposes, it motivated me to take this idea along my journey.
What is the problem you are trying to solve? Can you share with us any insights that led you to believe that this is a big enough problem?
Pricking fingers for diagnostics is painful, inconvenient and Intrusive. Typically a normal diabetic patient need to prick his fingers 1800 times a year. And there are about 3.6 million in India who does this and this gap in the industry and problem being addressed motivated me.
What is the uniqueness about your Startup?
We have integrated IoT and embedded technology together and trying to make non invasive Glucometer which could be probably a wearable device.
What is the revenue model?
Gap in the industry and product based revenue model.
Who are the consumers that you are targeting? How is this going to affect them?
Diabetic patients who prick their finger and requires regular or frequent diagnosing of diabetics and this could eliminate the pain of pricking their finger a multiple times.
What is the big picture of your startup? Will it lead to something bigger? If so, how?
Making a glucometer which is wearable and Intuitive to use makes our start-up a bigger one.
What is the success story of your startup in your own words?
The challenges are pretty close to what a regular start-up face but being in 12th standard and learning technologies which would influence society and putting aside all the things today made us a successful one and journey still continues.
Thanks Pavan. Best of luck1
