Pune, 27 November 2025BatteryPool, an Indian EV startup pioneering sachet-style, pay-as-you-go battery access, has raised ₹8 crore in its Pre-Series A round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The round also saw participation from Indian Angel Network (IAN), Chennai Angels, Keiretsu Forum, and notable HNIs.

BatteryPool currently manages 2,000+ batteries across six cities and plans to scale its fleet 10x over the next 18 months, strengthening its nationwide footprint.

BatteryPool’s proprietary hardware and IoT-connected battery management system power India’s first sachet-style EV energy platform. By allowing riders to pay in daily, weekly, or monthly installments, the company has made EV adoption more affordable and accessible. This model has already seen strong adoption across multiple cities, proving that low-commitment payments can unlock mass-market EV usage.

“India holds immense potential for EV adoption, but charging delays directly impact revenues for commercial operators,” said Vikram Ramasubramanian, Inflection Point Ventures. “BatteryPool solves this by offering seamless, pay-as-you-go access to charged batteries, monetizing each battery across its lifecycle and creating multiple revenue streams from a single asset.”

Founded in 2020 by Ashwin Shankar, a Stanford-trained Electrical Engineer with prior experience at Schlumberger and NASA, BatteryPool combines deep hardware expertise with systems-level policy insight.

“The sachet model transformed how Indians consumed mobile data and essentials—EVs are next,” said Ashwin Shankar, Founder, BatteryPool. “By bringing sachet-style, pay-as-you-go energy to batteries, we’ve made electric mobility affordable and accessible to the masses. Our focus now is on strengthening the ecosystem, improving user experience, and supporting everyday riders as India transitions to electric mobility.”

India has over 2 million electric two- and three-wheelers on the road, with another 2 million EVs expected to be sold in FY25, led by two- and three-wheelers. The demand for simple, dependable battery solutions continues to grow rapidly, positioning BatteryPool as a key enabler of India’s EV revolution.
