Company Vision & Innovation
Founded in 2017 by Anupam Lavania and Shilpa Malik, Bioscan Research integrates optics, electronics, mechanics, and software to develop affordable medical devices for early detection of brain injuries.
Its flagship product, CEREBO, is a machine learning–powered NIRS device designed for early detection of intracranial injuries at a pre-symptomatic phase. By enabling objective assessment, CEREBO ensures timely intervention within the golden period, improving patient outcomes even in the absence of visible symptoms.
Co-Founders, Bioscan Research: “We harness light to reveal what the eyes can’t see — giving doctors clarity, patients hope, and technology a heart. More than 50 million suffer from traumatic brain injury each year, and 50–90% of mild cases go unidentified. With this round, we will upgrade our product, bridge the limitations of traditional tools, and provide urgent care in India and internationally.”
Anil Joshi, Managing Partner, Unicorn India Ventures: “We have been investing in highly innovative MedTech companies consistently, as healthcare in India still has significant gaps. Bioscan Research is making it possible to detect intracranial haemorrhage non-invasively. The company has shown strong progress in the last 12 months, upgrading its technology solutions. We believe the market opportunity is huge, and Bioscan has built the right momentum to capitalise on this segment.”
