VinFast Launches VF 6 and VF 7 Electric SUVs in India as EV Sales Cross New Milestones

Gurugram, Haryana, India | 23rdSeptember 2025: India’s car market is undergoing a major transformation, led by two strong trends: the dominance of SUVs and the steady rise of electric vehicles (EVs). Between January and July 2025, more than 90,000 EVs—including electric cars and SUVs—were sold. July alone recorded over 15,000 units, setting a new monthly benchmark.

Battery-electric cars now account for 5.4% of new passenger vehicle registrations in August, up from 4.9% in July. At the same time, SUVs and MPVs make up nearly two-thirds of all passenger car sales this financial year, highlighting India’s clear preference for larger, more versatile vehicles.

Luxury EV Growth Outpaces the Market

The premium segment is seeing even faster adoption. Luxury electric car sales grew 66% between January and May, increasing their share from 7% to 11%. This indicates that EVs are moving beyond early adopters and becoming a mainstream choice for discerning buyers.

VinFast Enters India with VF 6 and VF 7

Amid this growth, Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs, manufactured at its new 400-acre facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. These models arrive at a strategic time, as interest in electric SUVs is spreading rapidly.

  • VF 6 Price: ₹16.49 lakh – ₹18.29 lakh
  • VF 7 Price: ₹20.89 lakh – ₹25.49 lakh

Both models combine SUV styling, advanced technology, and long-range batteries—appealing to India’s growing EV customer base.

Range, Charging & Performance

  • VF 6: 59.6 kWh battery, up to 468 km range, 10–70% DC fast charging in ~25 minutes.
  • VF 7: 70.8 kWh battery, up to 496 km range, fast charging in ~28 minutes.
  • Higher trims add all-wheel drive and quicker acceleration for performance-oriented buyers.

Tech-Forward Interiors & Features

The VF 6 and VF 7 interiors focus on clean design and high-tech convenience, including:

  • Large touchscreens with OTA (over-the-air) updates
  • Vegan leather upholstery
  • Flat rear floors for extra comfort
  • Boot space: 423L (VF 6) and 537L (VF 7), expandable with foldable seats

Safety and driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, 360-degree cameras, and Pininfarina-designed styling with sharp lines and V-shaped LED signatures.

Incentives & Customer Support

VinFast is making EV ownership easier with:

  • Free nationwide DC charging at V-Green stations until July 2028
  • 3 years of free maintenance
  • 10-year / 200,000 km battery warranty

To strengthen customer confidence, VinFast India plans to establish 35 dealerships and 26 workshops across 27 cities by year-end, covering key EV hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

What It Means for Indian Buyers

For Indian households, EV adoption often depends on cost, practicality, and trust. The VF 6 and VF 7 strike a balance of affordability, long-range capability, and SUV practicality, making the transition to electric mobility more accessible.

With EVs now exceeding 5% of new registrations, the market is no longer in its infancy. VinFast’s entry with affordable-premium SUVs could play a pivotal role in helping Indian buyers take the next step toward sustainable mobility.
