Over the years, countless success stories have appeared where females have been able to overcome various socio-cultural obstacles–such as gender discrimination, gender disparity and unequal representation–to make space for themselves across mainly male-dominated areas, disciplines, professions, etc. Entrepreneurship in India is one of those areas where there is a sharp contrast between the gender gap. Despite boasting the world’s third largest start-up ecosystem, the country’s female business owners make up just 14 percent of the total number. Successful women rulers have the authority to inspire, promote and empower more high-caliber females with a vision to follow suit against such a background.

TiE Delhi-NCR’s mission – together with its ancillary Special Interest Group for Women Entrepreneurs (SIGWE) – is in line with this concept and New Horizons ‘ latest edition will be its most dynamic manifestation to date.

Geetika Dayal, Executive Director–TiE Delhi-NCR, said, “Several reports continue to emerge that assert how enhanced women’s involvement can help unlock possibilities for achievement across organisations and countries. A 2018 IMF research, for example, claims that allowing the growth of women’s skills will not only generate job possibilities but also lead the country’s GDP to rise by 6.8%. Hence, as enablers of the Indian start-up ecosystem, our task is to unlock these predicted growth prospects by empowering women entrepreneurs by providing them with financing, mentoring and networking possibilities.
